The winning entries
The winner was Elise Sawall from Australia (age 10). She managed to tell a haunting story in very few words. A real skill, and harder than it looks. Well done, Elise!
"The picture had been passed down through the family for as long as she had remembered, it was worth thousands, millions.
The girl sat there staring, staring into nothingness. Her black and white world a dull place in which nothing moved, nothing lived, and nothing was real.
A black corset sat tightly under her old stiff dress. Trying hard to smile the girl only showed a thin line on her pale face. Her face looked dazed, longing for something.
The gallery opened. People burst in trying to get a look at the famous paintings. No one took notice of the old picture of the girl in her dull dress, except for a fourteen-year-old girl with blonde streaky hair flowing past her shoulders. She was wearing a long pink floral dress.
It was getting late. Everyone had left, apart from the young girl who sat staring in a curious way at the painting.
Suddenly in a flash of blue mist, the girl disappeared.
The next morning instead of the dull girl staring into nothingness, another girl with long blonde hair and a pink floral dress stared out of the painting in horror."
2nd prize went to Sara Coggin, from the UK (age 13), who sent in a video trailer. I loved her use of images and music. And I wish I was this good at editing video! You can watch it on YouTube here. Sara also has a blog with some great photography: saraboxofthings.
There were 3 runners up: Kate, Hazal and Annie-Rose. Click here to see and read their entries. xxx
